So this paper definitely helps the learners and teachers to evaluate language skill with this small instrument called mobile phone.
Key words :- Traditional learning , Mobile learning , Technology , education , camera features , Advantages
1)Introduction:-
Mobile has become a kind of Trend and fashion for the people and especially among youngsters. When we see today's generation we have questions like why are people attracted towards mobile phones so much? How can we use it positively and innovatively? So in this paper, I would like to discuss the idea of traditional learning instead of digital learning and we can say mobile learning of the English language.
2)Why is English necessary to learn?
There are many reasons behind learning English.
1)English is the language spoken worldwide:- language is used by many countries as a second language so when you want to visit another country then it's helpful to communicate easily.
2)English will open a world of new opportunities:- if you have good power in English then you speak effectively and your communication skills will be great. If your job is related to tourism and travelling then it is very useful to you, airline, film industry and even in social media if you are good in English it becomes easy for you.
3)English is the business language:- If you are good in English then you become a hot property of the market, you become a good employer because you can communicate well and people are seeking for you.
4) English is a simple language to learn:- English has simple alphabets, unlike any other language wherein alphabets or letters are so complicated, too many symbols, so. Many pictures and that make you so confused.
5)English is plain fun:- If you love to watch movies, tv soaps and want to use social media then you must learn English because English is widely used on the internet and there are so many movies and entertainment in English.
3)How is mobile learning better than traditional learning:
As we are aware, today's generation doesn't have too much time so for them, traditional learning consumes more time than mobile learning. On mobile, we have so many apps which help us to learn English at home. As we know, before the pandemic people used to study through books and go into classes but now we have the option to study from home through mobile phones. The purpose of education is not traditional or digital but to teach students and learners which we can do now on mobile phones also so now there is no need to go to school and sit in the classroom for hours. Because we live in an era in which people have to become multiple Tasks so everyone can not only afford education, they have to do side jobs and they can't go to school and Colleges every day. So mobile learning becomes the best option whenever they get the time they can watch videos and learn from them. We can say education and knowledge are in your pocket now so you don't need to go to school and College. Let's me compare both the learning:-
Traditional learning :
1)Gurukul system of learning:- Traditional Classroom learning has been adopted since ancient times in which students are taught similar things by their teachers by the same methods to everyone.
2)All must have remained present. If they aren't able to attend a lecture then they miss the topic taught by the teacher in that classroom.
3) In this kind of learning a teacher teaches 30 - 40 students at a time and no one knows whether students are getting not what is explained. So this type of study is not considered more effective than online study.
4) In traditional study students have to travel to educational institutions so that they have to pay travel expenses and sometimes, they have accommodation charges when they stay in a hostel or pay guests.
Mobile learning:-
Mostly we hear the word E-Learning nowadays. E-learning is also known as electronic learning means digital platforms without going anywhere.
Online learning is more effective than traditional learning because it gives you time freedom. One can open study videos at his/her own time. No need of going to an institution for attending lectures.
Students don’t need to schedule lots of time to acquire the new courses. They can learn through their own devices at any time and anywhere.
Traditional learning methods had the same learning methods compared to m - learning methods. The upcoming generation was growing with technology and mobile devices so they set different attitudes and aptitudes which may have created a disconnect between their expectations and the learning environment found in classrooms. One of the reasons for this failure is that this new generation of children is being educated with old methods In a time when children handle digital information, communicate with others through mobile technologies, and play more games than previous generations game-based learning might be a more appropriate approach for teaching and engaging the children in a more successful way than traditional learning methods.
4) MALL -Mobile-Assisted Language Learning:-
Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) is the use of smartphones and other mobile technologies in language learning, especially in situations where portability and situated learning offer specific advantages. One of the most obvious advantages of MALL approaches is mobility. Students can study anytime and anywhere since they normally keep their cell phones with them. A key attraction of mobile learning is the ubiquity of mobile phones. M- Learning can support learners in reading, listening, speaking and writing in the target language, either individually or in collaboration with one another. Mobile learning can be formal or informal, and mobile devices may form a bridge connecting in-class and out-of-class learning. When learning takes place outside the classroom, it is often beyond the reach and control of the teacher. This can be perceived as a threat, but it is also an opportunity to revitalise and rethink current approaches to teaching and learning. Mobile learning appeals to a wide range of people for a variety of reasons. It may exclude some learners but it is often a mechanism for inclusion. The next generation of mobile learning will likely be more ubiquitous, which means that there will be smart systems everywhere for digital learning. Mobile learning is proving its potential to address authentic learner needs at the point at which they arise and to deliver more flexible models of language learning.
5)How through mobile you can learn English.
Most youths are passionate about having the most recent mobile phones just to boast among their peers. They use them to make phone calls, take photos, listen to songs, watch videos, or gain access to the internet for entertainment. So how can we change this device from a communication device to an educational tool? It demonstrates that a mobile phone could be a useful tool in learning and teaching the English language. So there are so many games and apps that are useful for learning English.
1)Hello English:- This is my first recommendation for anyone looking to improve their English. Hello,English covers all the aspects of language learning, including vocabulary, translation, grammar, spelling, spoken, and reading skills.
2)Duolingo:- If you want to learn English from scratch, then this is the app you are looking for. Duolingo uses interactive games to help you learn up to 23 different languages, including English.
3)Learn English Daily:- This app follows a simple approach to learning English by listening and speaking. The app consists of thousands of words and phrases narrated by native speakers. You can listen to those phrases to improve your pronunciation and memorize them. It also notifies you to speak sentences every day to keep your English fluent.
4)HelloTalk:- HelloTalk is similar to Lingle as it connects you with native speakers to help improve your language skills. However, it adds a few extra features that might interest you. You can view the profiles of users manually to find a match that interests you.
Additionally, you can also send text and audio messages, and even do video calls with other people.
5)Wordle:- Wordle is the game in which you have to guess words and they give some hints about whether you are right or wrong through colours. This game became helpful to college and university students to increase their vocabulary.
6)Developed skills through mobile technology:- Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening
Note feature:- Note is a valuable feature. It can be used to take notes. We can immediately note down the things like the movie's name, important places and images we saw while travelling and visiting someplace. When we come across a new word, structure, or expression we can immediately save them on the mobile phone by using the note feature.
Frequently or occasionally it can be revised as we cannot keep everything in our memory. In the class, the teacher can ask the students to present what they have collected in their note feature.
Mobile phone and social media widely used by students provides an ideal
vehicle for reading and writing in the target language. Social media engages students in real language use and contributes to their ability to use the language not
only grammatically but in ways that are socially and pragmatically appropriate. That includes learning about
genre conventions, language registers, and cultures of use for different media and online communities. It is likely that students already use available mobile versions of social platforms such as Facebook. This provides the opportunity to engage
in-class activities which can be extended to homework assignments or used later informally by students.
